As a native North Carolinian after graduating from UNC, John simply could not imagine living and working anywhere else than the Research Triangle area and specifically Chapel Hill. He loved the climate, the people and the potential growth that the Triangle promised and wanted to be part of making that vision happen.

John chose to make a career in commercial real estate founding Morris Commercial, Inc in the late 80’s following 14 years in residential development and custom home building alongside JP Goforth. John is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM). He feels that membership in this global organization of commercial real estate professionals helps elevate the level of services that he can offer to his clients and raises the standards for the industry as a whole through focused education and networking opportunities with more than 19,000 members in 33 countries and 61 chapters worldwide.

As a Chapel Hill resident for over 40 years, John enjoys his residency and is deeply committed as a community volunteer. He is active in a wide range of social, athletic, educational, business and non-profit organizations. Some of these include: North Carolina Children's Home Society, current Chair of the Foundation Board; SECU Family House at UNC Hospitals, past Board Member and ‘04 Board Chairman; Wachovia Bank, current Director of Chapel Hill Advisory Board and former Chairman; Charles House Adult Daycare Center, Board of Advisors; Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce, past Chairman and Director; Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation, past Director; Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership, past Director; UNC Chapel Hill Alumni Association, life member; UNC Educational Foundation, member; Kidzu Children’s Museum, Building Committee member.

Scott W. Morris 

Vice President - Broker/Property Manager

Scott Morris is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a BA in Business Management, and a concentration in Entrepreneurship. In 2011, Scott joined Morris Commercial to handle all commercial property management for the firm. Possessing a passion for entrepreneurship, Scott has strong experience in working with start-up ventures as an investor and consultant. Scott's experience in assessing profitability and viability has been an asset when evaluating potential tenants for owners of properties. 

Scott is very passionate about the sustainable growth of the Chapel Hill area and is involved in the community. In 2017, Scott joined the board of the Kidzu Children's Museum in Chapel Hill. He is a devoted volunteer of SECU Family House in Chapel Hill, which is an organization dear to his family. An avid outdoors man, Scott enjoys snowboarding, fly-fishing, kayaking, or rock climbing in the NC and CO mountains.

Whit Brannon

Whit Brannon


Whit Brannon, a local hailing from Chapel Hill, NC, began working in hospitality at the age of eighteen at local restaurants such as Bonne Soiree and Bin 54. He came to Fearrington in the spring of 2010 as a member of the wait staff at The Fearrington House Restaurant. In 2013, they achieved the title of Grand Chef from Relais & Chateaux. The Chef, Colin Bedford, became the 21st Grand Chef in North America and 169th worldwide. The team also was one of twenty-nine restaurants in the United States to be named five-star five-diamond by AAA. Beginning January of 2014, he assumed the role of Catering Manager for the property. In September of 2015, he stepped down from the position to pursue commercial real estate. June of 2016, he began working with Morris Commercial. Outside of work, he enjoys gardening, grilling out with his wife and friends, traveling and playing poker.
